News : Serbia and the correct Montenegro

Jepsi Pepsi.

3rd of July me and Christina summited Midzor in Serbia. It was a fairly easy mountain on the border with Bulgaria. The serbian side of it was mainly grassy slopes and easy going. We started from a ski-center at about 1500 meters and walked the 8 km to the summit at 2100-something in just over 2 hours. Before we got to the ski-center we got stopped by an overweight policeman. He told us Midzor was a no-go that day, but his english(and german) was so bad that we paid no attention to him and headed off anyhu.

After Midzor we drove through Kosovo to get to Montenegro. It is probably the most scenic country in Europe with its alpine mountains, narrow valleys and beautiful coastline. We stayed in Plav and started our climb of Kolata on the 5th of July. This might seem strange as I have already claimed to have climbed the highest mountain of Montenegro, Bobotov Kuk(fnis). Problem is that even though Bobotov Kuk(fnis) is officially the highest mountain of Montenegro it is not its highest point. Since Guinness have not given any guidelines about Montenegro(became independent after we contacted them) I find it safest to climb both. Kolata is 12 meters higher than Bobotov Kuk and a lot steeper. After 1500 altitudemeters and 5 hours of walking and scrambling we reached the summit of Kolata at 2534 meters. It was an airy and quite exiting climb and we even had to cross snow. Juhu. A thunderstorm was right on our heels all the way down, but we made it back to Pelle just in time. The whole climb took us 9 hours and Christina was'nt even tired. Not fair since I have climbed far more mountains than her. To fix this I stuffed her full of pizza and drank lots of coke myself. After this I was Mr. Jabbadabbadoo and lets cross that mountain while Christina wanted to go to sleep at the first hotel. Sleep we did and yesterday we drove all the way to the coast of Montenegro. We are currently staying in Perast, a beautiful little village where all the houses seem to be several hundred years old. We stay with a nice family 10 meters from the sea and are simply having a blast. Only problem is that it's almost too hot...

So, there you have it. We will stay here a bit longer before we head up the coast of Croatia and go home. Be jealous!

Pictures will be out soon.
